Oriels Niek consists of 6, self catering, privately owned houses in Barra. Situated behind a sheltered dune, no sea views but only a mere 50 metre walk, over the dune, to an awesome swimming beach. If you want to drive to the beach, its around a 300 metre drive. Oriels Niek can be reached with a 4x4 vehicle or a 2x4 with deflated tyres, a normal car wont make it to the Lodge.There is a communal swimming pool. The houses have 24 hour electricity. There is a communal restaurant and bar area that is opened up and used on request.All houses are serviced daily. The houses don't have washing machines, but the housekeeper that cleans your house can hand wash laundry on request, please take your own washing powder with for laundry to be washed. The houses don't have safes, but all bedrooms can lock. There are security guards that patrol the Lodge area.There are 6 houses in total: 2 x 1 bedroom houses, 2 x 2 bedroom houses and 2 x 3 bedroom houses. Below are detailed descriptions of the 3 different types of houses:1 Bedroom HousesThere are 2 x 1 bedroom houses. The bedroom has 1 double bed. There are 2 single sleeper couches in the lounge area. Linen is provided for the double bed, but you need to take linen with for the 2 single sleeper couches. The 1 bedroom houses comfortably sleep 2 adults and 2 kids under the age of 12. They have 1 bathroom with a shower, toilet and hand basin. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering and is open plan to the living/lounge area. The kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, chest freezer 210L and a fridge/freezer 250L, all crockery and cutlery supplied. No TV or DSTV but there is a restaurant/pub on site that has DSTV, should you wish to watch sport. The house has a standing fan in the bedroom and a ceiling fan in the open plan kitchen/living area. The lounge opens up onto an outside patio with outside dining furniture with a gas braai.2 Bedroom HousesThere are 2 x 2 bedroom houses. Bedroom 1 is en suite with a double bed. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds and is also en suite. Both bathrooms have a shower, toilet and hand basin. There are 2 x single sleeper couches in the living area. Linen is supplied for the beds in the 2 bedrooms, please take bedding with for the sleeper couches. These houses comfortably sleep 4 adults and 2 kids under the age of 12 in each house. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering and is open plan to the living/lounge area.
