Accommodation/Rooms Steyn's cottage comprises two en-suite air-conditioned bedrooms with a fully equipped open plan kitchen and a sitting room with a DStv OpenView dish and TV (bring your own decoder). There are four extra-length single beds that can also be made up of two king-size beds. Outside, there is a covered patio and a private braai area. Facilities/Services- There is a manager on-site daily as well as 24-hour professional security.- A wooden stairway to the secluded beach runs between the houses for easy beach access from the houses.- There are a communal braai and swimming pool available for guests to make use of. Location The cottage is a part of Dream Beach Self-Catering Lodge, located on a three-hectare wooded estate almost halfway between Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane. The lodge is just 10 kilometers from the Kosi Bay border post and 25 kilometers from Kwangwanase (Manguzi to the locals) on the South African side of the border. The colonial-era town of Ponta do Ouro has boomed in popularity in recent years and is the first Mozambique stop on many Southern Africa overland itineraries. Its best asset is its excellent beach: long, wide, and surf-pounded. Do offshore waters host Do Ouro's proximity to South Africa, it fills up on holiday weekends. South African rands are accepted almost everywhere. Activities/Surrounds Restaurants: There are many restaurants to try in Ponta, such as Florestinos (on the beach) which has amazing charcoal-grilled prawns, or Alice just behind the market for some of her roast chicken and chips and wild spinach with peanut butter sauce. There is also a colorful local market in Ponta which normally sells potatoes, onions, tomatoes, local bread called pau, hot chili spice, Rama, local airtime, and a local rum called Tipo Tinto (which tastes like a cold drink but kicks like a mule). Fernandos is the most popular spot for visitors to imbibe. Water Activities: Ponta Do Ouro is well known among the surfing community as well as the kite surfers. For the scuba divers, there are several dive operators and dive schools. We dive exclusively with Petro Madsen who operates from Gozo Azul in the center of town. There are also several swims with dolphins operators who launch regularly. More InfoFacilities are used at your own risk. Please secure your valuables. A good 4X4 is essential to negotiate the soft sand roads around Ponta. Please check-in by 3 pm. Heading towards Ponta Malongane we are 2,3km from the tar crossroad in Ponta. Please note that from 10 pm no loud music is permitted.
